The potential effect of hazardous chemical and physical agents in occupational settings is a special application of exposure assessment that is critical to public health and economic development in the United States and the world. EHS researchers are engaged in a number of studies that relate to occupational health and support the department's academic curriculum in industrial hygiene.

Mr. Cosgrove teaches EHSC 4150/6150 Solid and Hazardous Waste Management to undergraduate and graduate students in Environmental Health Science and other departments of the University. He is Chief of the Organic Chemistry Section, Analytical Support Branch of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 4 Science and Ecosystem Support Division in Athens, Georgia. A 1978 graduate of the UGA Environmental Science Department, Mr. Cosgrove has been with the USEPA for over 20 years.
