What We Do

What do we do? Now, that's an interesting question. Most of us have been in a marching band and marched before, some of us have actually marched in Redcoats then gained some more sense and decided not to march anymore, and then there are a few of us who haven't ever marched but really are just looking for a cheap way to get into a Georgia Football game. Even if it requires us carrying heavy stuff around...

That being said, we do a lot of stuff. We get in Athens before anyone else in the band does to prepare stuff for band camp. We build things. We like to play with heavy construction equipment. We combine hydrogen and oxygen to make a compound known to common man as "water" for the band. And on days we don't feel like getting the particle accelerator and molecule maker out, we combine bags of 50 pounds of dehydrated water with ice to make lots of cool, refreshing water for band members.

We don't believe in South Dakota, we like lobsters, we have an official dead president, a crazy onkel, and idolize a fat man who wears yellow and sells pressure treated lumber. And we know the only way you can get to Delaware is if you cross the Einstein-Rosen Bridge on I-95.

We've got a big truck. It doesn't fit on the narrow lanes of Lumpkin Street and will drive over anything in its path. We have a family van, and a cart that sucks a little.

We haul around all the band's shhh...stuff in our truck. We carry ladders, music, a sound system, flags, lawn chairs, couch cushions, charcoal and a grill. We set up stuff for the band to use before practice then clean it all up afterwards. We're the first ones there and the last ones to leave. We hate picking up the bands trash...but sometimes someone has to do it. Although we'd rather it not be us.

We play cards a lot. We go to the 'Roo so much that the cashiers know us all by name. And lately we've been talking a lot about physics and math. We're crowd control, we're movers, shakers, one of us is a beer maker, and we really know how to party.

We do a lot of stuff that no one notices, few appreciate, even less understand, but we all do it because we love the Redcoat band. I guess...

And we think grocery store feet are sexy.
