Course Description
The destruction of European Jewry from 1933 to 1945: (1) the historical context; (2) life and death in ghettos and camps; (3) the reactions of bystanders; (4) the role of survivors; and (5) religious issues raised by the Holocaust.

Reaction papers should be 1-2 typed pages.
Each exam will consist of multiple choice and short answer/essay questions. All exams will reflect both classroom and text presentations of material. All exams will be returned to the instructor.
No make up exams except in the case of a documented emergency. If you need to miss an exam at the last moment, please e-mail or call the instructor at your earliest reasonable opportunity.
Regular attendance is a must for a good grade (exam questions derive from every single class session) and is expected by the instructor.
No class on March 9 and 11 (spring break).
