National
Ultraviolet Monitoring Program
The National Ultraviolet Monitoring Center (NUVMC), which measures
surface UV irradiance and total column ozone levels, operates
a network of more than 20 monitoring stations around the United
States for the Environmental Protection Agency. The network
evaluates the long-term trends in these quantities as the Earth
returns to its normal ozone distribution. Data collected by
the NUVMC is analyzed to determine these long-term trends and
to understand the observed behavior using atmospheric models.

NESPAL
The National Environmentally Sound Production Agriculture Laboratory
is a research organization formed to provide research to help
ensure efficient, safe, and affordable agricultural practices
that protect natural resources and the environment. NESPAL is
guided by an advisory board that includes farmers, environmentalists,
consumers, educators, agricultural support industry officials,
food processors, food-affiliated businesses, and regulatory
agency officials. The research facility is located in Tifton,
Georgia. |
Cox
Institute for Newspaper Management Studies
The Cox Institute for Newspaper Management Studies has helped
college newspaper editors prepare for their responsibilities
through a week-long management seminar held in Athens on the
campus of the University of Georgia.
Editors-in-chief acquire and sharpen skills in managing people,
resources, and time while meeting and working with their peers
from across the country. |
Institute for Nonprofit Organizations
The institute provides an interdisciplinary group of graduate
teaching, research, and service programs at UGA that focus on
improving the leadership and effectiveness of nonprofit organizations.

Awards
The George Foster Peabody Awards recognize distinguished achievement
and meritorious service by radio and television networks, stations,
producing organizations, cable television organizations and
individuals. |
Poultry
Diagnostic and Research Center
The Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center carries out basic
and applied research programs on the diseases that are of economic
importance to the poultry industry of Georgia. Diagnostic, laboratory,
and consultative services are provided to individuals and groups
in all phases of poultry production. |
Ramsey
Center for Private Enterprise
The Ramsey Center engages in research studies that demonstrate
the benefits of economic decisions made in a competitive environment
and in teaching undergraduate and graduate students the principles
of private enterprise, the theoretical underpinnings of market
economics, and other appropriate subjects. |
River Basin Science
and Policy Center
The River Basin Science and Policy Center serves to unite the
vast and varied water-related research and outreach expertise
of the University of Georgia to support the development of sound
water resource policies at the local, state, national, and international
levels. |
Rusk Center for International and Comparative Law
The Rusk Center serves as a nucleus for enhancing collaboration
between law school faculty and students, the law school community,
and diverse international partners on foreign and transnational
legal and policy matters. The center is also expanding its leadership
in universitywide scholarship and outreach. |
Survey
Research Center
The Survey Research Center is a major academic survey center,
providing initial consultation on survey methodologies. The
Survey Research Center provides expert advice on sampling, questionnaire
construction, and the analyses of survey data. The center can
conduct complex surveys of national, regional, and local populations
using state-of-the-art computer-assisted interviewing methodologies.

Torrance Center for Creative Studies
The Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development is
a service, research, and instructional center concerned with
the identification and development of creative potential and
with gifted and future studies. Its goals are to investigate,
implement, and evaluate techniques for enhancing creative thinking
and to facilitate national and international systems that support
creative development. |
Interdisciplinary Toxicology Program
Experts try to promote human, animal and environmental health by reacting to problems as they are discovered and by preventing problems before they occur. The interdisciplinary toxicology program is designed to meet these needs in teaching and in research. Research is being conducted in many fields of toxicology in this program including the investigation of biomarkers of environmental contamination in aquatic species, the investigation of genotoxicity in rodents and humans exposed to radioactive contamination resulting from the Chernobyl meltdown and research focusing on the growth and survival characteristics of bacterial pathogens in food processing environments. |

Part of the Honors Program at the University of Georgia, the
Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities (CURO) seeks
to promote opportunities for undergraduates to engage in research
with premier research faculty. |
Georgia
Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories
The Georgia Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories provide diagnostic
consultation and assistance to practicing veterinarians and
animal owners in diagnosing diseases in livestock and pets.
These diagnostic services also include disease surveillance
plus an educational outreach to veterinarians and the animal
industry, including pet owners in Georgia. A wide range of diagnostic
tests are performed daily by the two full-service laboratories
in support of veterinarians in Georgia. |
