Observation Hours Information:

Most physical therapy programs require about 100 hours of observation experience with physical therapists. Some schools specifically require acute care experiences while other schools do not specify certain settings. Check the schools' websites for specific requirements concerning the number of hours required and in which settings these must be completed. Some paid work (such as tech experiences) may qualify as observation time also, but this may vary by school.  Often, physical therapy schools prefer at least 20 hours per setting of experience; it is recommended to check with the schools to which you are interested. If you are just getting started, the best time to start getting assignments for observation is at the beginning of the semester. The following list should include most of the places to observe in the Athens area and should serve as a good starting point.
