Writing and art to combine at GMOA

“An Evening of Writing and Art” is scheduled for May 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Georgia Museum of Art. The event will feature readings inspired by works of art in the museum’s permanent collection to be presented by students in Judith Ortiz Cofer’s advanced creative writing class. A reception will follow.

Softball team to play series against LSU

The softball team hosts a three-game series against Louisiana State University at Jack Turner Stadium with games scheduled for May 3 at 6 p.m., May 4 at 4 p.m. and May 5 at 2 p.m. Admission is free.

Climate seminar to focus on communication
Rob McDowell of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government will discuss "Communication Barriers Between Scientists and Policymakers" May 8 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in Room 214 of the Miller Learning Center. The seminar is part of the Georgia Initiative for Climate & Society's "Get to Know Us" seminar series. McDowell is director of the Environmental Policy Program at the Vinson Institute. Prior to joining the UGA faculty in 2009, he worked for 16 years with the Georgia EPD.
