Welcome to the website of the University of Georgia's chapter of the Roosevelt Institution, Roosevelt @ UGA. Our organization strives to uphold values cast into the public discourse by Franklin, Eleanor, and Theodore Roosevelt, values cognizant of humanity, values encouraging collective action for communal problems. Through research, composition, and proposal of public and foreign policy, we believe we can do this.

After being created only at the beginning of the fall term of 2005, Roosevelt @ UGA boasts five centers that have a combined membership of about fifty students. Careful not to be overbearing but to provide guidance, professors from throughout the university have been eager to help our members with their work. Together, our members have begun, and several have already finished, policy suggestions ranging from the utility of anti-dumping legislation that governs our international trade to the merit found in foreign language education.

Logistical support comes from several sources. The national organization, which reigns in over one hundred chapters of the Roosevelt Institution, provides blueprints for successful chapters and connects all of its satellites through its website. The University of Georgia affords a platform that propels its students into the public, giving them voices bolstered by the reputation of one of the nation's premier research universities. The Center for International Trade and Security offers a plethora of knowledge on topics of international security and a medium for publication of our security-related papers in their quarterly, The Monitor . Support like this from institutions like these is vital to our functioning.

With aid coming from many directions and a dedicated membership, we have made great headway. We make progress only because of our greatest asset, our membership, comprised entirely students at the University of Georgia , students who, on top of their full-time class schedule and other student activities, research for and write an extensive policy recommendation. We are a student organization unlike any other. We demand more and can guarantee no concrete payoff. Nevertheless, our members work.
