2003 National Convention Highlights

Congratulations to everyone involved with the Alpha Omicron Chapter's national awards!

Winners were announced recently at the 25th Anniversary National Sigma Alpha Convention that was held in Illinois October 23-25. Our chapter cleaned the place out! This is an awesome group who should be very proud of themselves and their outstanding members!

First, congratulations to all actives! Our chapter took home ALL THREE national awards, making us national champions three times over! We won first place in the Outstanding Sisterhood category, first in the Outstanding Public Service category, and first in the Outstanding Professional Development category. Because of these accomplishments, we took home the Founder's Cup - the greatest honor any chapter could accomplish!

The Founder's Cup Award is given to the chapter with the highest National point system total for the previous school year. With over 60 Sigma Alpha chapters across the US, this is an awesome achievement for a chapter that has existed for only three years.

Also congratulations are in order for three of our exceptional members. Carol Spruill won FIRST place, taking home the Outstanding Leader Award! Amanda Hamsley was runner up for the Outstanding New Member Award. Katie Woodall won third place in the Outstanding Senior category. Great job ladies!!

We also have a wonderful advisor that was recognized. Mr. Blane Marable was runner up for Outstanding Advisor. Thank you for your dedication and hard work for us Mr. Marable!

Thank you all for your support and participation in Alpha Omicron Chapter! We wouldn't have such an awesome group if we didn't have such wonderful members! And we would not have won these awards if it was not for the solid foundation our previous members built as they have set the standard for years to come. Congratulations again to all of our past and present members.

Sincerely,

Amanda Hamsley
Leadership Chairman
