Francis Assaf

Professor of Romance Languages.  109 Moore College Athens, GA 30602-1815 fassaf@arches.uga.edu 542-3164 ~ fax 542-3287 Professor Assaf specializes in rationalist French thought, critical thinking, and logic.  He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.  Professor Assaf's works include: Lesage et le picaresque, and L'Orphelin et d'Amanzarifdine.  In addition, Professor Assaf is the founder of The Interdisciplinary Society for French Seventeenth Century Studies and the founder and editor of Cahiers du Dix-septième


Jean-Pierre Caillault

Professor of Physics and Astronomy.    237 Physics Athens, GA 30602-2451 jpc@akbar.physast.uga.edu 542-2883 ~ fax 542-2492 Professor Caillault specializes in the study of stellar  clusters and star-forming regions, but has a particular interest in providing a rationalist's viewpoint of extraordinary claims.  He earned his Ph.D. in Astronomy from Columbia University.  His vita includes articles published in Astronomy Magazine, The Astrophysical Journal, and The Astronomical Journal.  Professor Caillault is a member of the American Astronomical Society, and the International Astronomical Union.


Claiborne V. C. Glover III

Professor of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Genetics. A414a Life Sciences Building Athens, GA 30602-7229 glover@arches.uga.edu 542-1769 ~ fax 542-1738.   Professor Glover specializes in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics.  With his Ph.D. from the University of Rochester, Professor Glover performed a NIH postdoctoral fellowship.  Stanford University.  His vita includes 40 full publications.  Professor Glover is a recipient of the UGA Creative Research Award.


Barry Palevitz

Professor of Botany. 1603 Miller Plant Sciences Athens, GA 30602-7271 palevitz@dogwood.botany.uga.edu 542-1784 ~ fax 542-1805 Professor Palevitz specializes in Botany, Biology, Evolution, Science Writing, and Science Literacy.  He earned his Ph.D. in Botany from the University of Wisconsin.  His vita includes publications in The Plant Cell, Trends in Cellular Biology, Flagpole Magazine, The Scientist, and science commentaries on National Public Radio. Professor Palevitz is an editor of Protoplasma, an international journal of Cell Biology.


Bruce Thyer

Professor of Social Work and Director of Masters in Social Work Admissions. 207 Tucker Hall Athens, GA 30602-7016 bthyer@arches.uga.edu 542-5440 ~ fax 542-3282 Professor Thyer specializes in mental health therapies, including therapies for substance abuse and mental retardation. His research interests include behavior analysis, anxiety disorders, clinical social work, claims of paranormal phenomena, and social welfare.  He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and his Masters in Social Work from the University of Georgia.  Professor Thyer is the editor of Research on Social Work Practice, a peer-review journal.


George Felis

Ph.D. student in the Department of Philosophy. 126 Peabody Hall, Athens, GA 30605 gfelis@arches.uga.edu. George specializes in philosophy of biology and the application of evolutionary biology to human questions in philosophy, especially philosophy of mind, ethics and political philosophy. George doesn't have much of a vita yet, but he's willing to direct any interested student to all sorts of interesting reading and to discuss ideas at virtually any length ;-)
