Welcome!

We are interested in the cognitive processes and brain structures that mediate the perception of nonverbal information in communication such as vocal emotional expressions and music.

Investigations include whether and how this information contributes to language processing and how it enhances or distorts the perception of verbal information and its consolidation in memory. Additionally, we study emotion expression and perception among nonhuman primates through behavioral research with tufted capuchin monkeys.
