Jenna Jambeck, assistant professor in the College of Engineering, is internationally recognized for her research on plastic waste in the ocean and for the Marine Debris Tracker app she co-created. She notes that being active in research helps bring current environmental engineering issues into the classroom for students.

Harvard professor to deliver Hollowell Lecture

Tomiko Brown-Nagin will deliver the fourth annual Donald L. Hollowell Lecture April 2 at 7 p.m. at the Morton Theatre, 195 W. Washington St. Brown-Nagin, the Daniel P.S. Paul Professor of Constitutional Law and a professor of history at Harvard University, will give a presentation titled “’The Civil Rights Queen’: Constance Baker Motley and the Struggle for Racial and Gender Equality in America.”

Baseball team to host Vanderbilt

The Diamond Dogs will play a three-game series against Vanderbilt University at Foley Field. The games will be April 3 at 7 p.m., April 4 at 2 p.m. and April 5 at noon. Tickets are $5 to $8.

African American Choral Ensemble to perform
The UGA African American Choral Ensemble will give its spring performance April 2 at 8 p.m. in Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall. Hugh Hodgson School of Music professor Gregory Broughton leads the ensemble. From its rich beginnings in the early 1970s as the Pamoja Singers, AACE has endeavored to keep concert halls and churches filled with the powerful sounds and wealth of indigenous musical treasures birthed from the African-American experience.
