In the Time of the Revolution, Maryse Condé

On October 5 and 16, 1997, a conference on Slavery in the Francophone World was held at the University of Georgia. A highlight of the symposium was the English language premier of the play In the Time of the Revolution about the slave revolts in Haiti and Guadeloupe by Maryse Condé. The play was directed by Dr. Freda Scott Giles, Associate Professor in Drama and the Institute for African American Studies at the University of Georgia. Professor Condé participated in the symposium and attended the production of the play. The video from the Athens performance is available upon request (contact Doris Y. Kadish, dkadish@uga.edu.)
