Sociology Department, University of Georgia

Dr. Jody Clay-Warner

(Curriculum Vitae) Dr. Jody Clay-Warner, Associate Professor of Sociology, is the Graduate Coordinator for the Department. She has been at the University of Georgia since 1998 and received a Ph.D. in Sociology from Emory University in 1997. Her specialty areas include social psychology, criminology, gender, and work.

Dr. Clay-Warner's most recent research examines the effects of procedural justice and distributive justice on work attitudes and emotions. She is particularly interested in the ways in which group identification alters the effects of procedural and distributive justice in the workplace. She is currently engaged in an NSF-funded project in which she and collaborators Dawn Robinson and Lynn Smith-Lovin are examining behavioral and emotional responses to over-reward. Dr. Clay-Warner also conducts research in the area of gender and crime. Here, she explores victim responses to sexual violence, including reporting and resistance behaviors. She and graduate students Jennifer McMahon and Callie Burt are currently writing papers on the utility of Blackian and social psychological explanations for rape victim reporting behavior.
