International Perspectives on Interracial Communication
June 8 - July 5, 2010

Spend a month in Costa Rica on this one-of-a-kind, groundbreaking study abroad program! Understand the reality of race and racialized experiences that exist beyond the borders of the U.S. and explore the global implications that exist concerning the issues of race. Taught in a field-seminar style, students will talk with government and civil society leaders, Costa Rican university professors and students, and many local residents. This extraordinary program will spend time in San Jose, the Caribbean costal town of Puerto Viejo, and at the UGA Costa Rica Campus.
Program Itinerary
Program activities are an integral part of course content and are designed to enhance the overall study abroad experience. Students will begin the program at the UGA Costa Rica Campus in San Luis de Monteverde, spend time in the Central Valley region, near the capital city of San Jose, explore the Caribbean coast, and finish the program by visiting the Pacific coast and Arenal Volcano.

Cost
This program costs approximately $2800.
In-state tuition, fees, airfare and personal expenses are additional.
