With sadness, I inform you of the death of Felix A. Nigro. Felix Nigro died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens on September 5. He was 93 years old.

Felix Nigro was a faculty member in the Department of Political Science from 1969 to 1982, and Professor Emeritus since the time of his retirement.  Prior to coming to the University of Georgia, he served on the faculties of the University of Delaware and the University of Puerto Rico, and was Chief of Classification for the U.S. National Youth Administration. After his retirement, he continued his work as an arbitrator. He earned the Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and was a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.

He was the author, and later co-author, of two highly successful textbooks, Nigro and Nigro, Modern Public Administration, and Nigro, Nigro and Kellough, The New Public Personnel Administration, as well as articles on civil service reform, collective bargaining and management-labor relations.

Felix was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1914 and was a life-long Giants baseball fan. He is survived by his wife Edna, his son Lloyd, daughter Kirsten, and several grandchildren.
