Kudos to Dr. Talarico!
Susette Talarico, Albert B. Saye professor emeritus of political science, has been awarded the 2007 American Political Science Association’s Law and Courts’ Teaching and Mentoring Award.
The APSA is honoring Talarico for her innovative approach to teaching and mentoring. Talarico has encouraged students to pursue a cross-disciplinary approach to understanding public law—asking students to go beyond political science to include disciplines such as anthropology, economics, and information science, among others. This creativity has forged broad mentoring partnerships between students and professors that have brought forth award-winning books, major research grants, and numerous scholarly publications.
“While others dutifully perform their instructional craft hoping to realize a bit of inspiration someday, Susette has made every day an event into which she has poured her best, making each bit of teaching or mentoring an illumination,” said former student Brad Chilton, professor of political science and criminal justice at Appalachian State University.
Among a long list of honors and awards accumulated over the course of her 30-year tenure at UGA, Professor Talarico twice received the University’s Josiah Meigs Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Congratulations on this latest and well-deserved honor!
