The Center for International Trade and Security to honor Jane Seddon Willson
Jane Seddon Willson of Albany, Georgia was the first person to step forward and make a commitment ensuring the future of the University of Georgia’s Center for International Trade and Security (CITS). In 2000, Jane founded the CITS Endowment with a gift of $1 million. In the succeeding years, she has provided additional funding in support of a wide range of the Center’s public service and research activities.
A graduate of Emma Willard Preparatory School and Wellesley College, Jane is president and CEO of Sunnyland Farms, Inc. As an enthusiastic and dedicated philanthropist, she is the largest individual contributor to University of Georgia programs in the last decade. She is also a past president of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Albany and continues to serve on its board. Jane has served as campaign leader and chairman of the United Way. She is a trustee of the University of Georgia Foundation, a retired member of the Albany State University Foundation Board, the Albany Technical College Board, and The Darton College Foundation Board. As an avid patron of the arts, she is a former president of both the Albany Museum of Art Board and the Albany Area Art Council, and is currently an active member of the Atlanta Opera Board. Jane has received numerous honors for her work throughout the years, including an Honorary Doctor of Law from the University of Georgia.
In light of all of her achievements, the Center for International Trade and Security is fortunate to have Jane Willson as an invaluable champion of its mission. Her friendship, interest, and generosity have supported many initiatives which have helped CITS gain the worldwide prominence it holds in its field. The Center’s students, faculty, and staff – both past and present – will always be indebted to her.
The Center is proud to honor Jane with this dedication on this 25th day of March 2008.
