International Affairs Council - website
The International Affairs Council is a student-run organization affiliated with the Department of International Affairs in the School of Public and International Affairs of the University of Georgia. The Council promotes the academic interaction of students, faculty and staff of various internationally motivated institutions and organizations on campus and outside the University. It encourages a firm understanding of global issues from an empirical standpoint in political, economic, social and cultural arenas and believes in increased understanding of historical and contemporary global theory and practice as paramount to awareness of international affairs. In addition, it seeks to discuss issues of international interest through presentations and open debate while endeavoring to serve as emissary for the execution and dissemination of educational materials in the field of international affairs.

The Council is scheduled to meet twice a month during the fall and spring semesters. During each meeting, guest speakers will give a short presentation on a selected topic after which students are free to ask questions and debate among themselves the various issues that arise. Also, several times throughout the year, there will be special programs put on by the IAC. These may include lectures and forums by distinguished guests, or social events for members of the IAC. Check the Events page to see what is planned for the future.

Mock Trial Team - website

Model United Nations - website
The model U.N. team at the University of Georgia consists of approximately 30 delegates from year to year.

Delegates are selected through an application and interview process, and those selected to represent UGA through model U.N. are required to take an upper-level political science course taught by our faculty advisor designed specifically to prepare delegates for the conferences in which they will be participating.
Each spring the UGA model U.N. team puts on a conference for high school students in the Southeast.  This conference generates the bulk of our funds for attending our own conferences later in the year, and is thus a very important item on out agenda.

Pi Sigma Alpha - website
The University of Georgia has the Alpha Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society. Students with at least a 3.2 overall grade point average & at least a 3.2 in four Political Science courses not including POLS 1101, are eligible to apply. Application forms are available in the Undergraduate Office & are accepted throughout the year. New members are inducted each spring & participate in Honors Day convocation. The membership fee is $35.

Roosevelt Institution - website
The organization strives to uphold values cast into the public discourse by Franklin, Eleanor, and Theodore Roosevelt, values cognizant of humanity, values encouraging collective action for communal problems. Through research, composition, and proposal of public and foreign policy, it believes it can do this. Through publishing and promoting the policy ideas of students, the Roosevelt Institution is unique in not only airing the ideas of an often neglected age group but also publishing undergraduate students.

After its first year, members of the organization have been published in different periodicals, presented their proposal to a member of the US House of Representatives, and won awards and praise for their hardwork and contribution to the academic community at UGA.

SPIA Student Advisory Council
The Undergraduate Office views its mission as one of service and support to undergraduate SPIA students. As SPIA grows and seeks to reach out to undergraduate students, it is appropriate that the administration of the Undergraduate Office have a representative board of SPIA students with which to consult and work.

The primary mission of the council is to serve as a line of communication between SPIA Undergraduates and administration. They also serve as a sounding board for changes in student services as well as academic programs. To achieve this mission, the council hosts the annual SPIA Night in the fall as well as the Freshman Forum in the spring.

In addition to their efforts to bolster communication between undergraduates and the administration, the council works to enhance the educational experience of SPIA students. To do so, they have created an internship directory and are working on the creation of a research conference, a research journal, and Sigma Iota Rho, an international affairs honor society.

Student Government Association - website
Students enrolled in the School of Public and International Affairs have the opportunity to run for SPIA Senator. These Senators are elected every February by their peers in SPIA. As SPIA Senator, students represent the interests of their school in front of the entire Student Government Association.
