Applications & Technology Development The Analytical Applications and Technology Development Program, which focuses on the development and applications of advanced analytical techniques for the molecular-scale characterization of complex wasteforms and environmental samples, is a cornerstone component of the research efforts within AACES. Using an array of state-of-the-science analytical instruments and technologies, the program seeks to develop and apply novel and innovative methods to acquire the molecular scale measurements that are prerequisite to conducting the studies within the other AACES programs and other research groups at SREL. AACES has developed a strong international reputation for developing, modifying, and applying advanced analytical and spectroscopic techniques for the in situ examination of environmental samples. As a result, this research program attracts scientists from across the DOE complex and the nation for collaborative work at the interface of fundamental and applied environmental research in order to improve the management of contaminated sites. |
