SREL
DNA Lab
Virtual
Tour
The SREL DNA Lab consists of two rooms -- the smaller Pre-PCR Lab (#136) and the larger, newer PCR Lab (#207). The smaller room, which has a central and side benches, is used for DNA extractions and amplification setups. The equipment contained in the Pre-PCR Lab consists of: centrifuges, rotators, incubators, UV sterilizer, small autoclave, thermocycler, heating blocks, pH meter, balance, refrigerator and freezers. Both labs have built-in fume hoods.
The larger PCR Lab contains: an ABI™377 DNA sequencer, dHPLC equipment, quantitative PCR, 3 gradient thermocyclers, 2 regular thermocyclers, vertical and horizontal electrophoresis rigs, power packs, refrigerated circulators, centrifuges, microcooler, DNA transfer lamp, waterbath, balances, heating blocks, stir plates, pH meter, fluorometer, incubator, shakers, Centrivap concentrator and pump, Eagle Eye™-II digital imaging system, Hydra™96 microdispenser, 2 pulsed field gel electrophoresis rigs, microwave oven, refrigerators and freezers, plus attached office with computers, darkroom with transilluminator, and cold room. The PCR Lab space has two long central benches and surrounding side benches, separated by three aisles. Pictures below help to visualize our facilities --
