Flamingo Bay

Modern view of Flamingo Bay, a Research Set-Aside on the Savannah River Site
Stratigraphic profiles from Flamingo Bay show that water levels rose markedly about 3000-4000 yr B.P., suggesting an increase in precipitation during the time of transition from Late Archaic to Woodland cultures. The modern hydrologic regime appears to have become established about 300 yr BP, during the late prehistoric period.
