PAR Pond Laboratory Low Dose Irradiation Facility (LoDIF)
Work has been completed on an outdoor experimental irradiation facility that is designed for studying the effects of low-level radiation doses on organisms. The 1-acre site at the PAR Pond lab consists of a series of fiberglass tanks that have sealed 137Cs sources suspended above them containing either 0.02, 0.2, or 2.0 Ci. These sources can deliver average dose rates of 4, 40, and 400 mGy per day, respectively, to organisms under replicated conditions.

The LoDIF consists of 40 tanks divided into eight blocks with five tanks in each block. Four blocks will be used during the exposure period in this experiment, with four tanks per block used for the different treatments.
