My research in radioecology began in my Master's program when I studied radioisotope levels in moor frogs resulting from Chernobyl fallout in Swedish wetlands.  These initial studies at Verkmyra Stream and a nearby wetland led to a Ph.D. project investigating the accumulation of 137Cs in wetlands and the resultant doses to frogs. I became interested in the possible effects of chronic radiation doses in amphibians, and came to SREL as part of my doctoral program to use the PAR Pond Low Dose Irradiation Facility (LoDIF) and work with Dr. Tom Hinton on radiation effects. I, Karolina, like Carolina and hope to conduct numerous studies here at SREL.
