Microsatellite DNA Development
Development of Microsatellite DNA Loci on a cost-reimbursement basis
We are offering to help develop microsatellite DNA loci on a
cost-reimbursement basis. We are doing this primarily as a service to the
scientific community, not as a money-making venture (though funds from this do
employ some great herpetologists willing to do DNA work for income). You will
note that our prices are low relative to commercial & semi-commercial labs
doing this.
Most people will have libraries with >50% of clones with repeats. We now have a sufficient volume of work
that we guarantee at least 25% of clones will have repeats – if they
don’t, we will either redo some of the work (e.g., sequence more clones) to
obtain more than the minimum for your order (e.g., 24 positive clones for each
plate of 96 ordered). If we fail
in our increased efforts, you can have the results we obtained for free.
Overview of options - note prices are for each step (Please

Completion time varies considerably depending on
what other work we have scheduled previously. Assuming we are not hiring
& training new personnel, traveling, or otherwise unusually busy, the
following are reasonable guidelines: options 0 & 1) <1 month; options 2 & 3)
2-3 months [total]; option 4) ~6 months [total]. If you have projects
that you would like to schedule, please let us know as soon as possible so we
can try to reserve a spot for your samples in our schedule
