SREL DNA Lab

Payment for Microsatellite Development

We are not doing this as a way to bring in a lot of cash to our lab.  We've just invested so much time & effort to get things going well here that we feel semi-obligated to let other people benefit from our pain, as long as we don't go too far into the hole for being nice. Basically we view this as a way of giving back to the scientific community (instead of being an associate editor of a journal or something like that).

You should check with the purchasing people at your institution to determine the appropriate way to get funds to us for the work we will do.  Many institutions have limits that kick in at $5,000 for paying in particular ways.  Generally, people simply complete the order form & then we will send an invoice after the work is complete.  Some institutions require a PO in advance of the work, others don't - you need to check with your purchasing people.  If you send us a PO number with the order form, we will include it on the invoice.

Ideally, payment should be in the form of a purchase order or check drawn in US dollars from a US bank.  We can accept credit cards, but the banks charge an extra fee, which is passed to us -- so we prefer checks & PO (let your level of pain vs. guilt be your guide).  If you are ordering reagents (i.e., options 0a or 0b), the fee is minimal so feel free to use your lab's credit card.  Foreign institutions can wire the funds to UGA's bank.  We will give you specific details in the invoice.

If sending us cash is difficult for some particular reason (e.g., you would have to write a sub-contract on the grant), we can usually arrange Payment-In-Kind in the form of non-hazardous lab materials (e.g., BigDye, 96-well plates, restriction enzymes, etc.) that you order & ship to us.  Please contact Travis (Glenn@srel.edu) for details.

PO's &/or checks should be made out to:  UGA-SREL DNA Lab
