The Par Pond thermal cooling facility in 1992, following a drawdown of 5.7 meters. This exposed 5.3 km2 of sediments contaminated by 137Cs. Activity of the upper 15 cm of the sediments (1993) was approximately 700 Bq kg-1, with native vegetation containing 2,300 Bq 137Cs kg-1. The total inventory for the system was estimated at 1.6 x 1012 Bq of 137Cs.
