Bullfrog
Rana catesbeiana

Bullfrogs are the largest North American frogs, the larger individuals approaching 8 inches. This species is noted not only for its size, but also for the absence of dorsolateral ridges. The bullfrog is usually green or brownish green in color, sometimes with small, brown spots. It is highly aquatic, found in lakes, bogs, and ponds. The bullfrog will eat almost anything it can get into its mouth, including insects, fish, mice, and other frogs. They breed from late spring to early fall. Bullfrogs may be confused with the less common pig frog, which also attains large sizes and lacks dorsolateral ridges. Pig frogs have pointier snouts and more extensive webbing on the hind feet.
