Gabrielle Graeter
is a Master's student in Ecology at the University of Georgia. Gabrielle's
interest in ecology stems from spending her childhood in the beautiful
mountains of Western North Carolina near Asheville, NC. She attended the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 1999 with
a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Environmental Studies. Since graduation
from UNC-CH, Gabrielle has led adventure trips and taught environmental
and outdoor education. She then worked as a Biological Technician for
two years at the Southern Research Station's Bent Creek Experimental Forest
in N.C. on several research projects, including a herpetological study.
Gabrielle conducts
her research at the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory in Aiken, SC. She
is especially interested in the effects that humans have on the landscape
and the impacts that habitat loss and fragmentation have on amphibian
populations. Her research will focus on adult amphibian movement patterns
and habitat choices within the LEAP project's experimental arrays. This
research should provide insight into how the impacts of human land-use
changes on amphibians can be minimized.
