Michael E. Dorcas is currently
an assistant professor in the Department of Biology at Davidson College,
Davidson, NC and currently conducting collaborative research with J. Whitfield
Gibbons and several other members of the SREL Herpetology Laboratory.
He received his Ph.D. from Idaho State University in 1995 where he worked
with Charles R. Peterson, after which he worked with J. Whitfield Gibbons
as a postdoctoral fellow from 1995 until 1998. Mike is currently serving
as Associate Editor for Herpetological Review and as Director of the Central
Carolina Amphibian and Reptile Initiative (CCARI). Mike’s research program
focuses on the physiology, ecology, and conservation of amphibians and
reptiles. His research program is interdisciplinary in nature and relies
heavily on collaboration with students. Michael has published several
book chapters and numerous papers on the biology of amphibians and reptiles,
the most recent of which include students as coauthors. For detailed descriptions
