Cryptogoleus is similar to Carneyella, with its single series of ambulacral plates, but Cryptogoleus has relatively straight ambulacra compared to the curved ambulacra of Carneyella. The ambulacral terminations in Cryptogoleus slightly penetrate the proximal peripheral rim circlet.
