Discounted Student Tickets
Periodically, the Department of Student Affairs offers tickets for Atlanta-area cultural events, such as Wicked, Atlanta Ballet’s The Nutcracker, and Stomp. These tickets are deeply discounted or free for students, and additional tickets can be purchased for friends and family at higher rate. These opportunities are advertised to students via emails, newsletter announcements, fliers, and posters.
Coffee and Culture
Coffee and Culture is an on-going series in which students can enjoy some coffee or tea and a guest artist in a few minutes before class or on a class break. Featured artists have included jazz guitarist Andre Bennett and pan flute player (and Gwinnett Campus student) Lucian Gavriliuc.
Recreational Sports and Fitness Activities
Periodically, the Department of Student Affairs sponsors events that help foster an active lifestyle. These can include golf or other sports clinics and sponsorship of athletic teams in county parks and recreation leagues. For more information, contact the Department of Student Affairs.
Healthy Habits
Everyone agrees that personal wellness is important but the busy lives of most Gwinnett Campus students mean that most suffer from a serious time drought. The Department of Student Affairs creates opportunities and events that support healthy habits and lifestyles in a format that meets the unique needs of Gwinnett Campus students. Look for healthy food options at Student Affairs events, and periodic opportunities to get tips, information, and wellness help in a “grab and go” format.
Our most popular Healthy Habits offering is our regular Stress Relief events, where students can get a free chair massage for immediate stress relief and stress management information in a take away format.
We also offer a free yoga class on Saturdays from 9 - 10 am in Room 141, during the regular UGA semester.
The Gwinnett Growl
The Department of Student Affairs publishes a monthly newsletter that keeps students updated on campus news, events, and other relevant information. Student submissions and ideas are welcome!
