Office Of Student Affairs Assessment (OSAA)
Position: Graduate Assistant (GA)
Office: OSAA
General Duties:
- Actively participate in departmental training experiences, staff meetings, and do work-related professional reading to become knowledgeable of Student Affairs assessment.
- Assist in obtaining approval for the office and/or the clients to conduct research with human subjects. This may involve writing Institutional Review Board applications, developing cover and consent letters, and drafting correspondence.
- Assist in developing and conducting outreach training workshops.
- Assist in conducting focus groups, observations, interviews, document reviews, and other qualitative assessment activities.
- Assist in the writing of reports, press releases, research articles and other documents.
- Conduct reviews of professional and research literature as requested.
- Other duties as assigned that are in line with the current job duties.
Specific Responsibilities:
Assessment Consultant
- Serve as a project consultant and provide leadership and direction for assigned clients.
- Conduct client intake meeting, establish project timeline, and expectations/contract between the client and the office.
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate project plans. (This will involve identifying project tasks, resources, and resource costs.)
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessment project including typed copy of expectations, email correspondence regarding the project, copies of instruments, copies of any IRB applications (if applicable), etc.
- Provide ongoing support to client based on established expectations - including survey development, individual training, statistical analysis, qualitative analysis/peer debriefing, and report writing.
- Facilitate client’s completion of the Office Exit Survey.
Assessment Web Site Manager
- Assist in maintaining, updating, and evaluating the office web site.
- Work to create a virtual “Assessment World” where reports and summaries are chronicled and accessible to Division staff and the upcoming SACS reaccredidation team.

Recreational Sports
Position: Group Exercise Graduate Assistant (GA)
Office: Recreational Sports
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive fitness and wellness program of group exercise classes – including both aerobics and instructional programs (pilates, yoga, dance, etc.)
- Create marketing and promotional material for group exercise classes and related programs.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and schedule a staff of 30-45 instructors.
- Organize and lead monthly meetings and training sessions for the aerobics program instructors, and bi-semester meetings for the instructional program instructors.
- Teach an instructor training course each semester to potential group exercise instructors.
- Log instructor payroll hours bimonthly and complete program financial reports at the end of each semester.
- Plan - and assist in the implementation of - special events.
- Other duties as assigned.

Recreational Sports
Position: Intramural Sports Graduate Assistant (GA)
Office: Recreational Sports
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Coordinator for Intramural Sports, the Assistant Director for Intramural Sports, and a graduate assistant with the implementation and coordination of the intramural sports program.
- Promote, supervise, and coordinate assigned intramural sports programs each semester.
- Prepare all materials for information fairs, sign-ups, and captains’ and officials’ meetings.
- Lead all captains’ meetings for assigned sports.
- Attend all officials’ meetings for assigned sports and assist the Coordinator for Intramural Sports with training, scheduling, and evaluating of student officials.
- Schedule student supervisors, scorekeepers, and officials.
- Prepare all reports, forms, and scoresheets needed for assigned programs.
- Post and update website regularly regarding scores, deadlines, upcoming programs, and meetings.
- Schedule regular season and tournament games/matches with the Coordinator for Intramural Sports and the Assistant Director for Intramural Sports.
- Monitor defaults, forfeits, and rankings throughout the season.
- Create a folder on each program assigned and include all materials and a final report and evaluation on the program.
- Attend programs regularly.
- Attend all Recreational Sports and Intramural Sports staff meetings.
- Fulfill additional departmental duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Intramural sports work experience (scorekeeper, supervisor, or official) required.
- Earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration, Recreation, or related field.
- Must be a motivated individual who has a serious interest in intramural sports and/or officiating.
- American Red Cross first aid and CPRO with AED certification required.

Position: Personal Training and Indoor Cycle Graduate Assistant (GA)

Position: Weekend Programming Assistant
- Staff the student center as building supervisor on Friday, Saturday and Sunday during daytime and evening hours as arranged and depending on scheduled events.
- Initiate, plan and implement three to four weekend programs off campus in the greater Atlanta area each semester.
- Coordinate and supervise Friday and Saturday late night and daytime activities on campus.
- Chaperone Friday and Saturday DJ Dance parties in Dooley’s Tavern.

Gainesville State College - Office Of Student Life

Position Title: Graduate Assistant for Student Orientation, Advisement, and Registration (SOAR)
The Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Life is a critical member of the office team and has responsibility for overseeing portions of SOAR, which occurs throughout the year. This is a one/third-time position (13 hours per week) and is a Graduate Assistantship for a student in the College Student Affairs Administration program at the University of Georgia.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in all facets of planning, preparation and execution of SOAR
- Recruit and train undergraduate SOAR leaders
- Manage SOAR-related correspondence with student attendees
- Coordinate sending, receiving, and tabulating of SOAR evaluations (electronic and paper)
- Assist with day-of-SOAR operations (check-in, directing students to appropriate locations, etc)
- Participate in discussions about evaluating and improving SOAR after each session
- Assist in web design and in the development and editing of SOAR publications
- Assist with other projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Admission to the College Student Affairs Administration (Masters) program at University of Georgia
- Commitment to facilitating student success
- Ability to understand and believe in the purposes of SOAR
- Enthusiasm for working with incoming students and their families
- Ability to assist student leaders in furthering their leadership skills
- Excellent computer skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is helpful but not required.

Terms of Employment
- Academic year commitment beginning August 10, 2007
- 13 hours per week. Graduate assistants generally work a standard weekly schedule but must be flexible when orientation/open house programs are in session.

- Remuneration includes a tuition waiver, mandatory GA health benefits and standard GA payment of $965.60 per month for 10 months

About the Office of Student Life
The Office of Student Life houses many programs for students at GSC. Our Director coordinates the SOAR program and advises the Student Government Association, as well as working with clubs and organizations and numerous other projects. The Campus Activities Board and Second Wind club for non-traditional students are advised by our Coordinator for Student Life. Our office also houses the Game Room, which is a popular hang-out for students between classes, and we offer activities and services for night students as well.
About SOAR Orientation
Student Orientation, Advisement, and Registration (SOAR) at GSC began several years ago. It has evolved into a mandatory freshman orientation program that seeks to provide incoming freshmen with a sense of belonging, essential academic information, academic advisement, and a schedule of classes for their first semester. Last year, over 2200 students came through the SOAR program! Because GSC is primarily a two-year school serving the local community, students begin their education in the summer, fall, and spring – so SOAR takes place year-round. As the SOAR Graduate Assistant, you would be involved in the continual process of evaluating and improving SOAR and implementing SOAR sessions in throughout the fall and spring semesters, as well as planning sessions for the summer.

UGA At Gwinnett - Office Of Student Affairs

Position: Graduate Assistant
Supervisor: Director of Student Affairs
The Student Affairs Office is responsible for planning, coordination of all student affairs programs and services at the Gwinnett location, and collaborative supervision of student affairs staff at Gwinnett. The Director of Student Affairs collaborates extensively with University staff in Athens and Georgia Perimeter College staff in Gwinnett to provide appropriate services and programs for UGA at Gwinnett students.
This position is a 1/3 time, master’s level position. The job duties are quite varied. The overarching purpose of the position is to work collaboratively with several entities in Athens and Lawrenceville to provide a varied and rich range of student life opportunities for UGA students at the Gwinnett location.
Responsibilities:
- Develop diversity programming in line with students needs, specifically planning and executing a yearly diversity week.
- Plan and provide various student-oriented events, such as homecoming week.
- Develop organization and leadership participation opportunities for students. Following the parameters of the collaborative UGA/GPC student organization philosophy, these groups/events could be populated and led by either UGA students exclusively or by both GPC and UGA students, as the purpose of the group or experience dictates.
- Develop recreational sports opportunities and provide administrative oversight, in collaboration with GPC students and staff.
- Possible student organization advisement, as needed.
- Other projects as assigned by the Director of Student Affairs.
