Kevin "Chappy"
Hynes (FCA) |
|
Kevin Hynes is an ordained
minister and is the FCA Campus Director for the University of
Georgia. The players and coaches refer to Kevin as Chappy. He and
his wife Mikki, have a son Elijah and a daughter Noelle. Chappy
served his country in the United States Marine Corps from
1983-1987. He also served his community in Florida as a Deputy
Sheriff and Police Officer. Now he serves the campus as Chaplain
to the University of Georgia Bulldogs Football Team. Chappy’s
passion is to introduce people to GOD through a relationship with
JESUS CHRIST in hopes that they will grow and use their influence
to impact others for HIM.

Jill
Perry (FCA) |
|
Jill
has served the UGA women's sports teams since the fall 2003
semester. She earned a degree in
Physical & Health Education and Adaptive P.E. from Xavier
University, where she also played volleyball for four years. She served as head volleyball coach at East
Henderson High School (Hendersonville, NC) for seven years where she
led the team to four consecutive conference titles and two 3A NC
State Championship titles. Jill resides in Watkinsville.

Thomas Settles
(FCA) |
|
Thomas C. Settles III was born
on April 3, 1981 and spiritually born again on December 2, 1996.
He attended and played football at Morehouse College in Atlanta,
Georgia. During his four years at Morehouse, Thomas was involved
with many organizations and activities and received numerous
awards. Thomas served as a Bonner Scholar, E. B. Williams Honoree,
President of Campus Outreach Ministries, Student Congress
Representative and he achieved the Dean's List. On March 25, 2001
He delivered his first sermon at Grace Baptist Tabernacle and on
January 9, 2002 he was licensed
as a Minster by the Baptist Church. After graduating from
Morehouse College in May of 2003 Thomas enrolled at Beeson
Divinity School of Samford University. While attending Samford his
preaching and teaching ministry expanded tremendously through many
invitations both in the United States
and abroad. After graduating from Divinity school, Thomas accepted
a position as chaplain to the athletic community at the University
of Georgia. Thomas considers his current position as a tremendous
privilege because it affords him the opportunity to partake in the
ministry of presence, prayer and preaching within the athletic
community of UGA.

Scott
Shepherd
(AIA) |
|
Scott is an ordained minister and serves in a dual role for AIA. He is the AIA
Director at UGA and also serves Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and
Mississippi as the Southeast Region Director. Scott graduated from
Auburn University in 1993 where he played on the baseball team. He
has been a part of the AIA staff for 14 years. He and his wife Angela
reside in Athens with their children, Charlie, Bailey,
Jackson, and Maggie.

Rachel
Sanders (AIA) |
|
Rachel has been
working with Athletes in Action since 2006. In 2003 she graduated
from Ohio University with a bachelor of science in sport sciences
with a major in sport management and a minor in business. Rachel
played 4 years of division I varsity soccer at Ohio and was
involved as a student leader with AIA and Campus Crusade for
Christ. Before arriving at UGA, she was employed in youth
ministry at a church, was the head coach of a high school soccer
team, and also completed 2 years of campus ministry training at
AIA headquarters. Rachel is from Knoxville, TN where her parents
and twin sister still reside. Rachel’s younger sister and
brother-in-law live in Denver, CO.

Ray
Lawrence (GAO) |
|
Ray and his late wife Pam started the Athletes
in Action ministry (which is the athletic ministry of Campus
Crusade for Christ) at the University of Georgia in 1983. In July
2000, Ray left AIA and started Georgia Athletes Outreach where he
currently serves as Chaplain for the UGA baseball team. He and his
wife Donna reside in Bogart with their daughters Rachel, Melissa,
Rebecca and Jennifer.

Jonathan Irby |
|
Jonathan Irby is
an intern with Team United at UGA. He graduated from UGA with a
business degree in economics in May of 2008. He was a member of
the Redcoat Marching Band where he served as part of student
leadership during his four years at UGA. He hopes to begin serving
in a full-time role within the collegiate athletics ministry
beginning next year.
