As I reflect back on why sports has
been such a huge part of my life, I’m drawn to the influence that
many of my coaches have had on my life.
All of them helped me to develop mentally and physically, but
one had a special interest and desire to help me develop off the
field as well. He had
an interest in seeing me develop spiritually.
On September 5, 1992, I asked that coach if he would help me
trust JESUS CHRIST as my personal Savior and Lord.
That coach gave me a verse of scripture at has become my life
verse. Philippians 4:13
says: “I can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens me.”
We all need a good coach.
Someone to drive us, support us, and teach us.
Now, after coaching college baseball for 13 years, those
coaches are no longer in my daily life.
However, I have learned how to have the Bible as my coach.
As I go through the ups and downs of daily life, I can rely
on the scriptures to lead me in the way that I should go.
2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that “all scripture is GOD breathed
and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correction and training in
righteousness.”
As the years have passed, I finally understand that the best
Coach in the world died for my sins on a cross, and his name is
JESUS CHRIST.
