I’ve never had difficulty questioning
whether or not God exists.
I’ve always felt His hand on my life.
I sometimes feel that my testimony may not be as interesting
as others because I’ve never really struggled significantly in any
area of my life. I had a great childhood and grew up in a very loving family.
I was baptized as a baby and my family made a habit of
praying and reading the Bible.
We rarely missed church, and I never did “bad” things
Somewhere along the way
between childhood and college, however, I began to feel that perhaps
something was missing from my life.
I didn’t feel whole.
I began to realize that there was more to the Christian life than
just going to church, reading my Bible, etc.
I needed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
While a sophomore in high school, I began meeting with the
pastor of our church.
Through my pastor’s words
and the verses of my Bible, God began to let me know how much He
loved me. I realized
that I needed to open my heart to Him.
By allowing Him to have my heart, I knew that He could do
some great things with my life.
I discovered that a personal relationship with Christ was
going to reveal the most essential purpose for my life.
I knew that I needed His direction because I honestly didn’t
know what was best for me.
I knew I could trust God to have the responsibility of owning
my life.
Now that I am at the
University of Georgia, I have experienced first-hand the power of
God in my life and in my circumstances.
I can also see His presence in people around me.
I’ve found that FCA/Team United has given me and my teammates
an opportunity to know more about God’s Word and apply it to our
daily lives. I realize
the importance of having other Christian believers around me to
support me, hold me accountable, and just simply grow and mature
along with me in my desire to live for Christ.
I think that prayer is so
powerful too!
There are many times in my experiences here at UGA where I’ve
had to rely totally on God to carry me through the many challenges
of being a college student/athlete.
Despite the struggles and challenges of basketball and
school, I have peace and joy because I know that God loves me
unconditionally.
Because of His love for me, I want to honor Him in all that I do.
That’s why my favorite verse in the Bible is Psalm 19:14,
“May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be
pleasing in your sight oh Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
