ACHIEVERS
 
These are the success stories of the University of Georgia Upward Bound Program. Each of the persons listed below, completing the Upward Bound program, successfully completed a four-year college and launched an exciting career. Upward Bound Achievers are recognized each summer at the Annual Upward Bound Banquet held in Atlanta.

Motorya Westbrook, The 2004 Upward Bound Achiever, is a Clarke Central High School graduate. She graduated from the Upward Bound program in 1999. She acquired her B.S. in Political Science from the Georgia State University. in 2003. She currently works as a Records Clerk with Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough, LLP.

Nicklas T Davenport, The 2003 Upward Bound Achiever, is a Cedar Shoals High School graduate. He graduated from the Upward Bound program in 1996. He went on to complete his B. S. in Electrical Engineering from Clark Atlanta University in the year 2002, and currently works as an Information Systems Specialist at the Atlanta University Center, Inc.

Pamela Gardner, The 2002 Upward Bound Achiever, is a graduate of Madison County High School. She received her bachelor's degree in Information Systems from Georgia College and State University. Mrs. Gardner served as the Computer Technology instructor for the University of Georgia Upward Bound Program. Currently she is owner of The Wiz Computer Services.

Shawn Johnson, The 2001 Upward Bound Achiever, is a graduate of Madison County High School. He received a degree in Psychology and Mass Communication at West Georgia College. Currently he is employed with Southwire Company as an Account Manager within the sales Department.

Tonia Jones, The 2000 Upward Bound Achiever, completed the University of Georgia Upward Bound Program in 1986. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from West Georgia College and a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. A licensed clinical social worker, Ms. Jones is currently the Educational Program Specialist for the University of Georgia Upward Bound Program.

Trona Winfrey Peoples, The 1999 Upward Bound Achiever, is a 1993 graduate of Oglethorpe County High School. She
received her bachelor's degree in Spanish from the University of Georgia in 1997. She is currently a Spanish teacher in metro Atlanta.

Ashley Barnett, The 1999 Upward Bound Achiever, graduated from Oglethorpe County High School in 1995. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Georgia, graduating summa cum laude in 1999. Ms Barnett received her law degree in 2002 from the University of Georgia Law School.

Larry Scott, The 1998 Upward Bound Achiever, is a graduate of Madison County High School. After receiving a degree from the University of Georgia, he became a network administrator for the University.

Angela Davenport, The 1997 Upward Bound Achiever, is a graduate of Oglethorpe County High School. After receiving a
nursing degree from Albany State University, Angela returned to Northeast Georgia where she is a Registered Nurse at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Patricia Pass, The 1996 Upward Bound Achiever, graduated from Oglethorpe County High School. She received a bachelor's degree from the Medical College of Georgia and her dental degree from the Howard University College of
Dentistry.

Jeffery Martin, The 1995 Upward Bound Achiever, graduated from Madison County High School. He completed undergraduate work at Georgia College and State University and received a graduate degree from Fort Valley State University . Today he is a teacher in Macon, Georgia.

Satrina Gillespie, The 1994 Upward Bound Achiever, is a graduate of Madison County High School. She received a business degree from Florida A&M University. Currently she is pursuing a graduate degree in Theology.

Alicia Arnold Reece, 1993 Upward Bound Achiever, is a graduate of Madison County High School. She received a nursing
degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Today, she is a registered nurse in Montgomery, Alabama.

Daphne Bailey, The first Upward Bound Achiever, recognized in 1992, is a graduate of Cedar Shoals High School. She completed her undergraduate degree at Lander University in Greenville, South Carolina. Ms. Bailey went on to receive her masters degree from Augusta College in Augusta, GA. She gave back to the University of Georgia Upward Bound program while serving as the program's guidance and testing coordinator. Currently she is Director of High School Relations at Athens Technical College.
