Sun Year 2000 Information
Hardware
Speaking generally, Sun hardware doesn't have a year 2000
problem, though many SPARCstations have a year 2070 problem.
Software
Also speaking generally, Solaris doesn't have a year 2000
problem, but rather a year 2038 problem, like any 32-bit UNIX variant.
OS patches
- Solaris 7 and above: Lingering Y2K issues will be
addressed with standard "recommended" OS patches as they are
discovered.
- Solaris 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.5.1 and 2.6: There are
specific Y2K patch clusters for these OS releases. Here are links to
local copies of these clusters:
SPARC
x86
- SunOS 4.1.3_U1B and SunOS 4.1.4: These OS releases
have Y2K patches, though they are not distributed in cluster format.
The Y2K patches are merely a subset of the available patches. Local
copies of the Y2K patches are at
- SunOS versions not listed above: These will
never be Y2K compliant.
The Y2K patch clusters are occasionally updated. Local copies are dated
about 8/13/99.
