Georgettes Audition Information


 In addition to agreeing to the UGA Redcoat Band Performance and Appearance Standards, to audition for the Georgettes, you must execute the following:

  • Front and side leaps
  • Double turns
  • Axels
  • High Kicks
  • Splits
  • Pom Skills
  • Fouette Turns
  • Straddle Toe Touch

**This is the application to be filled out and returned. Please read carefully and make sure you turn in all required materials together.

**Each candidate will need to prepare a solo routine not to exceed 2 minutes. Please incorporate personal style as well as required technical skills. You may choose any music that is tasteful. You will be asked to perform this routine if you successfully complete the group audition process, so you may or may not actually perform the routine you have prepared.

Please bring 2 copies (CDS ONLY PLEASE) of your music. You will turn in your music IF and when your number is called to perform the solo routine.


FAQ

What do I wear to auditions?
·  2 piece attire:
     Top: Dance/Sports Bra Top
     Bottom: Hot Pants (no dance pants or bike shorts)
·  Skin Colored Dance Tights
·  Any type of Dance Shoe
·  Performance hair and makeup should be worn for auditions. The Georgettes wear their hair half-up for performances.


How many girls will make the line?
Currently, there are 12 girls, but there is not a set number each year.

How much dance experience is required to make the line?
As long as you have an advanced understanding of the dance skills required, there is not a set amount of experience required, but technical dance background is preferred.

Requirements once you make the line
·  A $300 uniform deposit is required the day of tryouts if you are chosen to be a Georgette.
·  Members of the Georgettes are required to attend band camp in August. Band camp is
generally the first two weeks of August.

What is the cost associated with being a Georgette?
Each member is responsible for purchasing her uniform, matching warm-ups, practice attire,
game bag, and any other items specified by the Auxiliary Coordinator and/or Captains. A good
estimation is $800.00.

Who choreographs the routines?
The Captains are responsible for all choreography at the discretion of the Auxiliary
Coordinator.

Once I become a member, do I have to audition every year?
Yes. The purpose of returning members going through the audition process every year is to
maintain ideal physical condition and to maintain skills required.
