Georgettes
The University of Georgia established the first dance team in the Southeastern Conference in 1959, with the founding of the Georgette dance line. Currently, the Georgettes consist of 12 girls who are proud to represent The University of Georgia as members of The Redcoat Band Auxiliary Program. They perform with the band during pregame and half time at all home and most away football games, including Florida and a bowl game. They can also be seen at pep rallies, parades and various other appearances throughout the Athens community. Although many of the members have extensive training in either dance or cheerleading, it is not required as long as one has a comprehensive understanding of the necessary dance skills.
