Research Technician II

A Research Technician II position is available at the University of Georgia’s Marine Institute, located on Sapelo Island – an undeveloped barrier island 5 miles off of Georgia’s coast.  Duties will include maintaining a microbial ecology lab and assisting in ongoing research programs by producing and recording data, summarizing results, preparing reports, and computer analyses.Training and duties will include maintaining bacterial cultures and viral stocks, performing routine microscopy, performing basic molecular analyses, and participating in field work in the surrounding estuaries. Applicants must have a B.S. in Biology, Ecology or Chemistry, andsome laboratory research experience.This position is funded for two years with an anticipated start date of July 2008. Continued employment will depend on availability of funding and individual performance.  This position requires living on Sapelo Island, and housing is provided.
