Maps of Sapleo Island

Note that many of these maps are very large files which is unfortunate if your internet connection is not ISDN or better  but unavoidable given the need for reasonable image quality.  I hope that the thumbnails are adequate for ready evaluation.

1) -- Areas of Interest Map of Sapelo Island
A good map for general touring of Sapelo Island showing roads and the location of various features.

2) -- Sapelo Island Management Units

Thumbnail of management units of Sapelo map

3) -- Regional Map
(sorry this map is still under construction)

Note:  As I find good maps and obtain permission to put them up you should see new material on the page.  But for now several good affiliated web sites have numerous regional as well as other data-rich maps of the Sapelo Island area.

Other map resources I would recommend:

The Georgia Coastal Ecosystems - Long Term Ecological Research (GCE-LTER)  program site:  Lots of good info-rich maps and research summaries.  Some tremendous environmental data sets will also be available soon, a small fraction of these are already up.

Dr. Ruppels' web site at Georgia Tech.  There is a tremendous amount of material here but it is well worth the time and effort.

To get directly to Dr. Ruppels research on Sapelo:

Or check out Greg Schultz's page (one of dr. Ruppel's students) which is also very informative:
