GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR LISTSERV USEFor information on managing your LISTSERV subscriptions, please see http://www.eitshelpdesk.uga.edu/listserv.php or read on.... If you register a listserv password at http://www.listserv.uga.edu/, you can use it to manage all your lists at one time by clicking on the “Browse, Subscribe, Post, Search …” link (http://www.listserv.uga.edu/archives/). You can subscribe by typing the list name into the "List Name" text box via the “Browse, Subscribe, Post, Search” option, and clicking “Join or leave the list.” You can also change your settings (i.e., digest, nomail) or check the list archives on this page. SENDING E-MAIL COMMANDS TO LISTSERVInsert the name of the specific list where the instructions say [listname]. (The listnames for Staff Council’s lists are ugasc, ugastaff, and uga-forsale, but many others are available and these instructions apply to all.) Please note the difference between sending e-mail commands to the listserver (listserv@listserv.uga.edu) and posting e-mail messages to a list ([listname]@listserv.uga.edu). The listserver does not read the subject line. E-mails to a list should always have an accurate subject line because your message goes to all subscribers. TO SUBSCRIBESend an email message to listserv@listserv.uga.edu. In the body of the message, type (without the quote marks) “sub [listname] YourFirstName YourLastName.” Example: sub ugastaff John Doe Delete or disable your signature before sending. You will receive a confirmation notice which you should keep for future reference. TO

a SET command to listserv@listserv.uga.edu and
put the appropriate listname in the spot indicated, such as SET UGA-FORSALE
NO MAIL or SET UGASTAFF MAIL.
