Biographies
Susan Elrod
(President/Co-Instructor)
Susan Elrod is a
pharmacy student at UGA. She began dancing with the
Ballroom Dance Club's lessons in the fall of 2004, and quickly
developed a passion for swing! She picked up Lindy Hop,
Balboa, and other dances from the Fall 2005 Swing Club with Erik
and Allison, along with other dance groups and workshops, as
well as on the social dance floor.
Dr. Erik Hofmeister
(Advisor/Co-Instructor)
Erik is a faculty Instructor in the College of
Veterinary Medicine at UGA. He began his dancing career with the
UGA Swing Club in Spring of 2003 under Nick and Lauren. He picked
up ballroom dancing in the Fall of the same year and continued with the
UGA Swing Club under Effie and Greg (who had previously trained Nick
and Lauren). In the Spring of 2004, he and Allison took private
lessons with Effie and Greg to hone their Lindy skills. He has
picked up moves and styles
from
Dublin, Perth, Los Angeles, Boston,
Adelaide, Urbana, Provo, Canberra, and Sacramento. He has been a
member of
the Apprentice
Group of
UGA's Ballroom
Performance Group and has taken numerous classes at Contact
Dance. He also holds a second-degree blackbelt in Yoshukai Karate.
Allison Barfield (Past President)
Allison graduated with a degree in
Dietetics from UGA. She has been dancing
since Fall of 2003, studying Lindy Hop, East Coast
Swing, West Coast Swing, Charleston, and numerous Ballroom
dances. She has attended many classes in Athens and Atlanta and
received private training from the former UGA Swing Club
instructors, Effie and Greg. An avid Contact Dance student,
Allison has also been an apprentice of the UGA Ballroom
Performance Group.
