Adam Jones wanted to make a difference in a child's life, so for the past two years he has been a mentor to Brian Hector.

Hector, a sixth grader at Clarke Middle School, has no father and is raised by his mother and grandmother.

"I try to be a positive older male figure who pushes, supports and encourages Brian, both in social and educational environments," Jones says.

Jones helps Hector with his school work and meets him every Tuesday afternoon at the Athens-Clarke County Library.
