The University of Georgia comes into this season with a clean slate. This will be the first year that UGA will be part of the Collegiate Water Polo Association. The team is in better shape than ever and eager to tackle the newly imposed competition. UGA has six players returning from the previous season. The offense will rely heavily on senior Dimi Matouchev, and juniors John Weatherford and Matt Mullen to score and intimidate the opposing squad. The defense has a refreshed look with sophomore JR McMilan taking the defensive two meter position and senior Will Hamby-Hopkins guarding UGA’s goal. The team also has six new players joining the squad in addition to the new head coach, Ed Opalach. Coach Opalach will be a great asset to the team especially with whipping the new players into shape, many of whom have no previous Water Polo experience. The Georgia Bulldogs are ready for their first competitive season, so watch out not to get bit!
