GMOA Tour at Two to focus on face jugs
Dale Couch, curator of decorative arts, will lead a tour of the Georgia Museum of Art exhibition "Face Jugs: Art and Ritual in 19th-Century South Carolina" June 18 at 2 p.m. This exhibition draws from the collections of face vessels from the Edgefield District of South Carolina. The face jug form originated in the pottery created by enslaved African-Americans during the second half of the 19th century.
