2006-2007 UGA WrestlingBooster ClubDownload Booster Club Form Here A Note from the desk of Coach Kemling: “With great sacrifice comes great reward” is the team’s theme for the coming year. As the team looks to build off last year’s success, we eagerly look forward to the 2006/2007 season. We have a full schedule this year, including three major events at home. We are excited to introduce the first annual Dr. Avery Harvill Dual Tournament on Saturday, November 18th. The tournament will serve as a platform to honor the accomplishments of Coach Harvill, who was the first NCAA University of Georgia Head Coach from 1960 until 1966. On Saturday, February, 3, 2007, we will host the second annual Classic City Championships at North Oconee High School in Bogart, GA. Our working partnership with North Oconee High School has produced one of the premier NCWA tournaments in the region. Last year was a huge success, and we are expecting an even larger turnout this year. The final home event of the season will be the NCWA Southeastern Conference Tournament, which is the qualifier for the National Tournament. We will be hosting this event for the first time on Saturday, February 24th, 2007, at Clarke Central High School in Athens, GA. This tournament is a huge undertaking as we are anticipating over 180 wrestlers entering the competition. Not to mention, this event produced 16 NCWA All-Americans last year. These home events will be a serving farewell to our senior class: Jordee Williford (133/141), Mike Holland (157), Clint Casteel (174), Craig Taylor (184), Nick Disney (197), and Shane Anderson (235). Williford (2004, 2005), Casteel (2003, 2004, 2005), Disney (2004) and Anderson (2005) are all returning National Qualifiers. In addition, we are proud to announce the launching of our new team website (www.uga.edu/wrestling), which will serve as our platform for communication with the general public. You will be able to access team results, news, photos, and eventually the history of the wrestling at the University of Georgia. We need and value your support whether you are a family member, alumni, friend, student, or a wrestling fan. We encourage you to join the Georgia Grappler’s Group and assist us with reaching our goals. Last year, the funds raised by the booster club paid for our travel to the SEC Regional tournament in Gainesville, FL., as well as our trip to the National Tournament in Grand Rapids, MI. We are grateful for these contributions as they go a long ways in assisting us reach our goals. Sincerely, Coach Mike Kemling
