The Zeta Psi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered on November 11, 1969 on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens, GA.  Eight undergraduate women at the University, who we affectionately call the “Great Eight,” paved the way for over 400 capable and distinguished African-American women to serve the Athens community.  Every year, Zeta Psi serves the Athens area through sponsoring families at Thanksgiving and Christmas, volunteering at Halloween Carnivals at the East Athens Community Center, and fundraising for HIV/AIDS, hypertension and diabetes research.  Through the Clarke county Adopt-a-Street program, Zeta Psi is proud to have adopted Barber Street, which is located near downtown Athens. Aside from these annual projects, the Zeta Psi chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc continuously supports programs and charities as they become available in and around the UGA community.

Every semester, Zeta Psi hosts the Delta Scholar’s Banquet  which acknowledges minority students at the University of Georgia who hold a 3.0 or higher grade point average.  We also sponsor School America, a national program that focuses on eradicating illiteracy among America’s youth.  Additionally, Zeta Psi is proud to host the annual Miss Black University of Georgia Pageant, which serves as the chapter’s largest philanthropy.  The Miss D.I.V.A. Pageant will return in Fall 2004.

In addition to our many service projects, current members of Zeta Psi proudly serve UGA’s community through a variety of leadership roles.  These include Resident Assistants, C.L.A.S.S. Advocates, B.E.S.T. Counselors, Big Brother/Big Sister participants and coordinators, Dawg Camp counselors, peer leaders for UGA Experience and Executive Board members of Volunteer UGA.  Members also serve executive roles in campus organizations including Abeneefoo Kuo Honor Society (ABK), National Council of Negro Women, Inc.(NCNW), African Student Union (ASU), National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), Black Affairs Council (B.A.C.), and Caribsa.  National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), Leadership UGA, Student Government Association (SGA), LeaderShape, Gamma Iota Sigma, Omicron Kappa Delta, Alpha Epsilon Delta, Delta Epsilon Iota, and Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternities, Minority Business Association (MBSA), and the Committee for Black Cultural Programs (CBCP), and a variety of other campus organizations all contain members of the Zeta Psi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
