Adult Programs

Adult programs and activities include a variety of lectures, symposia, demonstrations, rambles, workshops and hands-on learning opportunities. Topics include invasive plants, native plants, wildflowers, floral design, garden and landscape design, organic gardening, botanical illustration, beekeeping, birding, composting, pruning, plant conservation, plant propagation, plant identification, nuisance wildlife and a variety of other topics—most related to horticulture, botany, ecology, gardens and gardening.

Rambles offer a popular way for people to learn about various subjects is an informal way. Rambles are usually led by Garden staff or University professors knowledgeable of the particular subject area—from mushrooms to birds.

Crafts attract many people to the Garden—to learn about herbal or holiday wreaths, centerpieces, dried flowers, soap making, concrete art, and similar subjects. The Garden offers a five-unit series in flower arranging, cosponsored by the Garden Club of Georgia.

Another very popular adult program is the Master Gardener program which provides intensive training in gardening—a 10-week, 20-unit course embracing topics from nutrition to pest management. Units are taught be experts in their respective fields. Read more about the Master Gardener Program.
