INFORMATION
In a nation of college drumlines, few are as well known or respected as the University of Georgia Redcoat Drumline. With a long and storied tradition dating back to the birth of the Redcoat Band in 1905, the Drumline serves as a key unit within the 400+ Redcoat Marching Band. Known across Bulldog Nation as the harbinger of another win between the hedges, the Drumlines traditional "Off the Line" cadence serves as the first pre-game entertainment before all home games. The Drumline also performs the famous "Redcoat Chant and Tic-Beat", the cadence which takes the band into Sanford Stadium before every game begins, and allows the fans to get a good look at the Drumline up close and personal as they march through.
The Drumline is also well known for it's Tate Drum Show. The UGA Drumline performs a half an hour warm up show in the lower parking lot of the Tate Student Center, just outside of Sanford Stadium. The show allows fans of sports and percussion to get an in depth look at the UGA percussion system and technique, as well as listen some popular Drumline cadences and pieces. The Drumline usually performs around 2 hours before kickoff.
The University of Georgia Drumline is the marching percussion section of the University of Georgia Redcoat Marching Band. The 2007 season instrumentation includes 11 snares, 6 Tenors, 7 Basses, 11 Cymbals, and a 16 person Pit Ensemble.
AUDITIONS Auditions for UGA Drumline are traditionally held over several weekends in March and April. Auditions are open to all incoming and current UGA students. Auditions are held over several weeks so that the instructors can get a full perspective players abilities on the instrument for which they are auditioning. Audition music information will posted when it becomes available. In the mean time, take a look at some of last year's audition music.
